COUNSELOR SUPERVISION
As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, I am approved by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors to provide clinical supervision to those seeking licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of North Carolina.
Supervision requirements include:
I provide one-on-one supervision with LPCAs but oftentimes pair two LPCAs together, matching supervisees in skill level and the client population they service. The board allows two LPCAs meeting together to count as individual supervision. This allows me to meet the demand for those seeking supervision and additionally makes supervision more cost effective ($75 each for two LPCAs per supervision hour versus $100 for one-on-one supervision.
Supervision requirements include:
- Supervision provided by a clinician approved by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.
- 100 hours of clinical supervision are required -- up to 25 of the 100 hours may be completed in group supervision format.
- Supervision must involve face-to-face contact at a rate of 1 hour of supervision per every 40 hours the supervisee works.
- Supervision must be based on live observation, co-therapy, and/or audio/video recordings. This is an important consideration because supervisees must have employment or work experience that allows their work to be either directly observed by their LPC supervisor or audio/video recorded.
